What is The First Baptist Church of Pitman?

The First Baptist Church of Pitman is a community of nurturing followers of Jesus Christ. You find us in many places. We are in the schools, the banks, the local businesses. You can find us on a soccer field, in the kitchen or in the hospital. And on Sunday mornings, you can find us at 30 North Broadway in Pitman, worshipping the Lord who has given us life to share. Everywhere we are, we are seeking to live out our mission. You can find our mission statement in the column to the right. Notice that it is active and when we live it, people's lives are transformed. God's grace (read unconditional love) pours into us. So if you are looking for a church that is more than a building, but a body of people who are loving God and loving God's world, then First Baptist Church of Pitman might be just the church you are looking for.

A MOMENT FOR MEDITATION

FROM NO ONE TO SOME  ONE!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!   II Corinthians 5:17 (TNIV)

I’m nothing; I’m nobody, no one
But Someone made something of me.
He put on my flesh and walked in my bones
And saw all the grief that I see.

He knew what I know of tormentors,
The haunting and howling within,
The bone that can break and the blood that can spill
And the hands where the nails entered in.

He hung on the cross as a creature,
Wearing my sin-splattered clothes,
And the pride in my flesh died with him when he died,
And my raiment was new when he rose.

This clothing I wear with a difference,
It’s flesh that the King entered in.
He left there His love and His almighty law
And I never can be what I’ve been.

I’m nothing; I’m nobody, no one
I’m someone in Christ, who’s in me,
And I’ll put on His flesh and I’ll walk in His bones,
And a part of His body I’ll be.
