Welcoming and Affirming Statement
As “a safe haven for all where love and care abound,” we are committed to being a refuge for all of God’s children encompassing of every age, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, cultural background, socio-economic status, mental or physical ability, marital status, religious backgrounds, or any other distinctions of society. We are a community where one’s worth is recognized and celebrated and remind each other that we are deeply loved by God. We truly believe that every single person is created in the image of God and can join Jesus in the work that God is doing in our world. Love is shown in our words, actions, and care of each other and those in our community.
As a welcoming and affirming church, we invite all persons to participate equally and fully in the life of the church including baptism, membership, communion, marriage, leadership, teaching, serving, and all activities of our church. Since we are an inclusive community, every person who enters our building at any time is embraced, welcomed, affirmed, loved, and cared for. No matter where you are on your journey in this life, you will always find a safe haven at First Baptist Church of Pitman.
